Introducing ES Group

With over 10 years of successful business in Australia we have recently updated our name to better reflect the company we are today. Edwin Shirley Staging Australia (ESS) has been renamed to ES Group Australia Pty Ltd (ESG).

Our purple and yellow is here to stay with Staging remaining our core business, however through meeting the demands of the event industry, our product and service offering has evolved and we have complimented our Staging core with:

  • in-house specialist project management services
  • set manufacture
  • equipment rental
  • AutoCAD design services

Our new business name better reflects the 'Group' offering and also aligns us with the global ESG brand.

ESG supports Sound Relief

Since being launched in September 2008, ESG's 18m Festival Stage has been busy! The benefits that the flat roof design provides, particularly to lighting production, has made the Festival Stage a popular choice - a choice Frontier Touring recently made for the biggest show in Australian history, Sound Relief.

ESG were asked by Frontier Touring to provide the 18m Festival stage with twin screen supports, 20m tall PA towers and delays for the Sound Relief concert at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) - one of the largest stadiums in the southern hemisphere. With over 80,000 tickets sold, the Melbourne Sound Relief concert made history as the largest paid concert event in Australian history.

ESG provided the staging services at cost and donated the equipment to the event which raised a staggering 7 million dollars for the Victorian bushfire appeal. ESG's support was driven through compassion for the victims of the bushfires, and in support of the Australian music industry which shone in unity.

New 14m Orbit Stage - ready to rock!

Introducing our latest addition to the ES Staging collection... the 14m Orbit. Recently installed at Sydney Olympic Park's annual Music by Moonlight series, the 14m Orbit is a neat compact unit with over 200m2 of stage performance area.

The versatility of the stage was well suited to the Music by Moonlight production which included four free concerts in The Overflow Park on each Saturday night in February. The stage structure was not altered between the weekly performances that included Rock, Jazz, Classical and Contemporary productions. The 14m Orbit boasts over 70m2 of off-stage work or storage area which is fully contained within the structure, meaning the look of the stage is not compromised with ad-hoc independent structures. A two day install makes the 14m Orbit an efficient and economic stage choice for medium sized productions.

The Single Supplier Advantage: Stage Construction & Set Manufacture

One of the highlights for ESG each year is providing the stage for the Australia Day Live Canberra production where the Australian of the Year is announced by the Prime Minister in front of Parliament House followed by a family show. This year the client chose ESG's Festival Stage for the production, and for the first year also engaged ESG to provide the scenic elements. The advantage to the client was dealing with one supplier for this dual service, plus the benefit of saving from shared freight and labour costs.

ESG worked alongside designer Kim Buddee to bring his design to life and achieve the right visual for TV broadcast. Detailed manufacture drawings were produced of the 60m scenic facade for the main stage. A series of 3 metre high timber panels with precision cut outs for backlighting effects plus plant on sections for extra depth were built in the ESG Sydney warehouse. The set was installed on site concertina-style to increase the depth of the scenic feature enhancing the view through the stage to Parliament House.
